bullitThe Gamma Knife is an amazing tool used by MHSI neurosurgeons for treatment of vascular lesions and benign and malignant brain tumors.

bullitDespite its name, the gamma knife is actually a non-invasive procedure that uses precise computer targeting to deliver gamma radiation to a lesion or tumor in order to destroy it.

bullitIt is particularly effective for lesions in an inaccessible or functionally critical area of the brain.

bullitThere is no pain or sensation from the gamma knife treatment. The patient is awake throughout the procedure, and typically will return to a normal routine the day after treatment.

bullitThe gamma knife also provides better outcomes for older patients and those who poor health might make conventional surgery too risky
