Every day, Kim knows that she can help one more patient. Not as a care giver, although she’s also a medical assistant, but as the coordinator of the phone call center and the front desk team. Her goal is quite simple “to help any way I can to accommodate MHSI patients get their questions answered and appointments scheduled.” Each week, the phone team answers 3,000 calls, scheduling appointments for 23 doctors, 3 physician assistants and 2 nurse practitioners.

Welcome to John Marshall M.D., Interventional Physiatrist, who recently joined our Physiatry team.  He comes to MHSI from a multi-specialty group in North Carolina where he provided non-surgical care for injuries and disorders of muscles, nerves and joints, including care for the spine.  He has special interest in treatment for sports injuries.  Prior to his time in North Carolina, he spent 20 years working in the tri-cities region of East Tennessee, and attended the Univeristy of Louisville School of Medicine in Kentucky.  [View Dr. Marshall’s video profile]

The results of the survey are compiled so your identity is never revealed, unless you tell us to share something specific. If you do want to share your experience with other patients, tell us that too.

Patients sharing their medical stories can be very helpful and informative to individuals who are looking for a physician to care for them. If you would like to help others by sharing your medical story, we want to hear from you. It’s simple, click on this link to provide a little information, then expect a member of our marketing team to contact you with more details how your story will be shared.  See some of the current stories patients have shared click here.

When the email hits your INBOX, we hope that you will take a few minutes to click on the link to tell us about your experience, how we did and where we can improve.

Mick Perez-Cruet, M.D., president of the Minimally Invasive Neurological Society (MINS), and several MHSI neurosurgeons are members of the society. In addition to Dr. Perez-Cruet, our neurosurgeons Daniel Fahim, M.D., Robert Johnson, M.D., Daniel Pieper, M.D., Omar Qahwash, M.D., Richard Fessler, M.D. and physiatrist Henry Tong, M.D., are invited faculty to the upcoming national MINS Conference in Detroit.

During this two-day national conference many of our doctors will teach about minimally invasive skull base and spinal techniques through cadaveric training and didactic lectures in skull base endoscopy and cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine including proper patient selection for these procedures.  The event offers a maximum of 13.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)TM for attending clinical professionals, sponsored by William Beaumont Hospitals.

This annual clinical conference will be held from August 9-11, 2013  at the Detroit Marriott in the Renaissance Center and neurosurgeons from across the country and internationally will be attending. Our neurosurgeons are excited to share and exchange knowledge about these procedures to  better serve patients.

At Michigan Head and Spine Institute, we continue to ‘Push the Boundaries’.  In a survey conducted among baby boomers, 71 percent said they would use a medical app.  So, the MHSI team said – let’s do it.

iPhone/iPad and Android users can download the Michigan Head and Spine Institute App from the App Store with a quick search for MHSI.

Once downloaded, the app provides patients with an easy way to request, change, or cancel an appointment, request a prescription refill, see the latest medical videos, and even get directions to any of our 10 offices. Tell us how you like the app by rating it after you take it for a spin.

Like millions of others, MHSI has joined the Facebook world by adding news and information about the doctors, research, new techniques, conferences and events open to patients. Please take a minute to like us on Facebook and tell others about your experience with our team of experts.
